Christmas 2009

Guess who was the first one up and got tired of waiting???

Santa was a little too good to a naughty teenager. But she was good for most of the year, I guess.

She also got a trendy new hat!

And Morgan got matching PJs!!! LOL Good thing Morgan doesn't mind clothes.

I was spoiled this year!!! I got an immersion blender WITH the chopper attachment. I can't wait to use it. I also got an electric blanket to use this winter and lots of other kitchen tools. Oooooh and new pans! I needed new pans!

I miss...

playing cards and board games. I really do. Growing up we played cards, dominos or board games all the time.

It's hard to do with only 2 people. *sigh*

I was told about this great game, Apples to Apples, the other day... it takes atleast 4 people to play. *sigh* No Apples for me.

I also miss blog updates. Yeah, I know... I haven't been updating either. Bad me. But I miss reading a REAL life update, not just a status update.

I miss exercising.... so why is it that I can't get my lazy butt up and out of bed to do it?

I miss having a sweet nice innocent little girl. *big sigh*

Since I'm on a book kick

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death – televised for all of Panem to see.
OMH is this book good. It is geared for young adults, but the writing is superb. And considering how skinny it is sitting next to Echo, Twilight or Host... it lacks nothing. It didn't feel rushed, cut off or choppy.
I can't wait to get my grubby paws on the next book Catching Fire.

ARRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH

Seriously? That bites. I have more questions now then when I started Echo.

*sigh* Why did Herself have to do this to me?

Swami? Tummy? Thoughts? I read some of the threads on Echo on the Lallyboard. They have a lot of the same questions I do.

You all should be jealous

I received my signed copy of Echo today. *hop* So excited!!! It's even a personal one! Just like DD's Auel book. So cool.
Oh yeah, and you can be jealous that I have the best sis in the world too. Thanks Sis!!!

3 Day Chicago!!!

Opening ceremony was wonderful, and dry!

The route was beautiful, we walked through the Botanical Gardens and then along the north shore and big beautiful homes. The rain did come, right before lunch and it didn't stop the rest of the day. Just would get lighter at times. Great pic of me, eh? *snort* Not only did I feel like a wet rat, I looked like one too.

Saturday started out with rain, but stopped. Yay!!!!! In Mount Prospect we were deputized by the pink police and yes even saw pink firemen. What a wonderful bunch of men!

The neighborhoods we walked through Saturday were extremely supportive and kept us going for the day. This is a pic of the Pair Tree.
Look! It's Frodis and her beautiful children here to cheer us on! It was nice to relax with them and eat frozen grapes. I even got to hold Jeff, he is too cute. *babysmooches* Saturday night was nice and dry so I took some pics around camp. The sea of pink tents and our dining tent.

Sunday started out warm and only went up from there, heatwise. I was already wishing for an ice bucket to dunk my bandana in at 8 in the morning. Here I am walking in from the lakeshore towards the Chicago skyline. Kimmer was told to rest her one really bad foot, so she met up with me at lunchtime.

There's Kimmer! She joined me at lunch and we continued to walk towards the city skyline. I wanted so badly to jump in the water.

I had to stop in the shade a few times Sunday, the heat was really getting to me. But we did finally make it to Soldiers Field!!!
And Closing Ceremony! We saluted those that walked that were also Survivors with our shoes (and nobody even noticed the smell LOL). The flags were returned to the Survivor Circle and the ceremonies were done.

The 3 Day was an amazing amazing experience, one I will never forget. Thank you to everyone for your love and support.

Mr. January 2008

I had a 3Day training walk with 3 other walkers today, one of which is a celebrity.... of sorts.

http://60milemen.typepad.com/main/2008men.html

He's Mr. January 2008 and the president of 60 Mile Men, he's also one of the men that started the organization.

If you're looking for a unique gift for that hard to buy for woman.... think about buying the 2010 calendar in support of these wonderful men and their fight against breast cancer.

GOTR 2009 5k

Our Girls On The Run 5k was today. I coached again this year and oh my. Middle School girls.... ummmmmm yeah. woooo.
You can see the black bandanas our school RP got for the girls. I'm going to bring silver and gold Sharpies to our party Thursday and have the girls sign mine and I'll wear it on my 3Day walk this summer.

Here's DD and S showing of their certificates that they finished the race. All the girls ran most of the way, which I was happy about. Practices haven't gone all that well, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I Have Pink Shoes

Oh and the quilt raffle starts this week, I will be printing out tickets today.
Added the pic one of the girls took at the last training walk.

Green Acres

These pics were taken on the 7th. The first one is my beans, second is zucchini cucumbers and cherry tomatoes, the third is a close up of the cherry tomatoes

These were taken today!!! My beans are getting so big! How big before I have to transplant them? Anyone know? I want to wait as long as possible to put them out in the garden. Last year we had frost right up til Memorial Day.

Spring may finally be here

I took Morgan for a 3 mile walk this morning! I think Spring may finally be here. Yay!!! The walk felt pretty good. After the 6 miler last weekend, I pulled a muscle in the back of my right leg down to my knee. It hurt, it stung. It was a little tight today and I can feel it now, but no where near as much pain. I'm going to try and do another 3 miles tomorrow before I start cooking the Easter ham.

Oh and speaking of Spring, LOL, I helped DBF set up a blog this morning.

Need to go shopping

Had my first training walk today. I did 6 miles along Lake Michigan. It didn't snow, but dang it was cold!

About mile 4 my feet started to talk to me. They didn't like my socks. So I need to go shopping. Only a few pairs though. I plan on buying a very good pair of walking sandals when/if the weather ever changes over. I think I'm finally going to buy the Keens I've been lusting after.

Here comes the Lion

March came in like a lamb... so here comes the lion.

Rain mixed with snow all weekend. Cold wet and dreary! I am soooooo tired of winter! Seriously. I do NOT want to buy more bags of pellets. It will be April next week, we shouldn't have to be running the pellet stove!

I know some of you on the east coast had March come in like a lion, how's it going out?

Mommy & Daddy

No, not mine. Yours.

What do you call them?

Is saying Daddy a southern thing? Yes, yes you know why I'm asking. Yes, yes I know I should ignore her. I do!!! 98% of the time I scroll right past her posts without reading them. But every once in awhile a word here and there will jump out before I can scroll past. And lately it's "Daddy this" and "Daddy that" that jumps out and I want to ask her how old she is. But maybe it's a southern thing?

Is it?

Yes I'm asking you Boo, since you're our resident southern dimwit. *grin*

Dear Mother Nature

Next week is the first day of Spring. Do you think you could possibly start acting like it?

Thankyou.

60 Miles doesn't scare me

It's the fundraising! Ack! *thud* I'm so not a sales person.

So yes, I have added the donate widget to this blog, my health blog and my craft blog.

I was reading the message boards at 3 day.org and seeing all the ideas for fundraising... and got overwhelmed.

My craft day with my girlfriends is this weekend. A couple of them have done craft shows, so I plan on picking their brains Sunday.

Why? Let me tell the why, that I am doing this. My Mom. *waves to yoopernurse* She is a 12 year(right? It's been 12 years? Ayla is 13) survivor of breast cancer. Breast cancer can be hereditary so I want them to continue their research.

(oh and Kimmer begged me. LOL)

Pandora Radio

I added a new app to my addiction down there. *points* It's Pandora Radio, but guess what? You can listen and use it online too. It's free!

How it works. You type in an artist, song or genre and it builds a radio station based on that. You can rate the songs it comes up with with a thumbs down or up (that helps the server choose the next songs). The only thing is, you can only skip so many songs an hour. But it's free. Free music on your computer anywhere.

Oh and you can shuffle between your personal radio stations too.

Check it out.

New Addiction

Oh my. Ummmmm. Good thing it's almost the weekend. I splurged my mileage check on an iTouch today. This thing is awesome!!! DD is sooooooo jealous. She's mad that she didn't know about this thing before Christmas. She would have asked for one instead of the new Nano.
I've only download a few applications so far but one was BeJeweled 2. I'm addicted. I love that game. I used to play for hours on my old computer. Now I can play on my iTouch!
I downloaded a free treadmill workout on it, extremely cool. I'm going to see how I like running to audiobooks next. *skip*
Bonus! I'm a super cool Mom now.

RIP Grandma

Darc sent me this pic to post on my blog. It's a picture of my grandma with her best friend.

My paternal grandma passed away yesterday morning. She was 94. Can you imagine all the changes she saw the world go through?

Maybe it's a sign?

I've been thinking about buying myself an iTouch.

hmmmmmmm I wonder how much they'll be marked down at Circuit City?

I feel bad for the 34,000 losing their jobs. Especially those here, since our town already ranks #1 in the nation in jobs lost. *sigh*

So the only ray of sunshine may be that I get a good deal on a new toy for me. Maybe?

It may be a two glass day

Two glasses of wine that is. Gah. I hate W2s. In fact. Nobody say that word to me for about two months. OK?

Anything and everything that could go wrong went wrong today. That full box of envelopes I thought I had to use with 3-up W2s? There was five envelopes in there. Five!!!! *pulls more hair out*
