Safe in Iraq

Isn't that like an oxymoronic statement?

Just a quick note, to let you know I am doing fine. It is very hot over here. All I do is just work and sleep. But all is fine. I will let you know more when I have more free time.

That message was waiting in my email box this morning from my brother. He'll be over ther for atleast 4 months.

Let's hope everyone's brothers/uncles/nephews/sons/sisters/aunts/nieces/daughters come home safely.

*HUGE hugs* They are always in my thoughts. However, a couple of them get a little extra prayer and thought because I know their relatives. So M will get extra thought at my house. *smooch*

This got me to thinking about who I know who has someone over there.
Your brother, Augie's nephew, a friend's daughter, Tkit's brother. Luckily not as many people as I thought. But I know that probably everybody knows somebody who has a relative over there. *sigh*

It sucks bad having a loved one over there, doesn't it?

I'm so glad you heard from your brother.

Yes it does suck. And what makes it suck worse is having to listen to the idiots who think that being there is the right thing. The morning DJ this morning was spot on, IMHO.... he said Bush is proving he's insane... the definition of insanity is continually doing the same thing expecting different results.

Yeah, I love how the people who support this idiotic war are the people who do not have loved ones over there.

I think if you are a member of congress and you vote to support the war, then you need to send a family member over there to fight in the war, and they can't come home until the war is over.

*hugs to Breezy & Breezy Brother*

I watched Flags of our Fathers last night and was thinking of how little things have changed with war and politics over the years. Sigh. At least troops have emails and cell phones now and can keep in better touch with loved ones.

All our friends (Chris's old unit) are home safe and it doesn't really make me feel better. It's somebody else's friend/family member getting killed over there every day, American or otherwise.

I'm glad that everything is fine with your brother.

I cannot even think about this FUBAR mess any more without getting all kinds of angry. Even when I try to understand people who take McCain's attitude that "mistakes were made but we need to finish the job," I just cannot figure out why the hell they are not angrier than fvck about those mistakes.

It's TOUGH having a sibling/cousin/relative over there so I truly feel for you. *hugs* My cousin Mark came back after three tours. I'll spare you the details of that mess and Chris, my brother, came back (flew himself back in his fighter jet!!!!) in late March/early April.

The only way to describe it is a constant cloud that kind of dogs you all the time. You could be having a great time somewhere and then they enter your thoughts and it's hard not to stop and evaluate.

I have a very good friend who is like a brother to me. Sadly we haven't really kept in touch like we should. I know that he has been there at least three times. I'm always afraid when I hear about a soldier from here who has died.
